The exhibition is part of the events revolving around the Bienal de Arte de Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo coordinated by Polo for Contemporary Art.

Photographs from the series People and Where They Live will be exhibited at MAINSITE Contemporary Art Gallery in Norman, Oklahoma along with works by photographers Ann Sherman and Joshua Meier.

Works will be up from July 24th to September 4th with an opening reception August 13th in conjunction with the Norman Arts Council's 2nd Friday.

Photographs of Strangers

This collection of portraits comes from an obsession with strangers. I am intrigued by the connections and narratives a person can create from a visual encounter with another. My intent is to provide the viewer with an opportunity to explore those photographs and create their own narrative about the photograph. The process of photographing with a view camera slows down the image making allowing for a relationship to be created, that is then revealed to the viewer.

This and the rest of the photographs from this series will be exhibited at the University of Oklahoma School of Art Senior Capstone Exhibition May 6-16th.

The Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition Momentum exhibition is open to the public through March 14.

Replacing the Monocle: New Masters to be Viewed with Magnifying Glass, collaborative piece with artist Keaton Kilpatrick, is a collection of 3/4 in by 1/2 in classic art defaced and redefined. Meant to be displayed at a small enough size that the viewer is forced to use a magnifying glass, recalling and pointing out the absurdism of time when art was accepted only as a form of fine scholarship and then appreciated by only those within high society that could afford it.

In January 2007 LA Times reporter Jill Leovy began covering every homicide in LA County on a blog in an attempt to make up for what the media misses and demeans. "It's sort of awful to think of people being murdered and nobody seeing it," she said.

I decided to download the local crime logs from the police department's website and the next day, at the same time that the crime had occurred, photograph the locations. I was attempting to understand if these locations held any memory of the crimes or held back some kind of remnants of what happened there just 24 hours ago.

These two images are part of a series of panoramic portraits. Shooting portraits as panoramas allowed me to not only capture the figures, but the area around them. Much can be seen about these figures in their setting and surroundings, and the light of these places. By shooting five or more snapshots and stitching them together, the image displays the atmosphere and mood of the moment and place. These scenes were not constructed to display the subjects’ personalities, but were quickly captured moments that create and define these characters.

They were there with their family. Their dad, uncle and older brother work on their modified 1950s pickup truck. They have all made plans for the car they will each build when they turn 14. They seemed unaware of the effect of climate change on fuels and in turn the rising price of fuels and how this might make threaten their dreams of racing.

New York Times recently published an article Fast Cars, Full Tanks about the rising price of fuel for racers.

The Chinatown buses were the cheapest way to get around from state to state through their cities' Chinatowns. They were cheap and departed frequently attracting day workers going from one Chinatown to the other and eventually students.
